Atlanta; Saturday, Bruce's Super Body Shops Corvette recorded it's best ET ever. The Wiseguys funny car records a personal best-to-date 5.00 at 304 MPH in Saturday's first session. With a 5.06 bump spot this put them in the number 10 position going into Sunday's elimination's. This is particularly sweet for the Tootees house car as it was the quickest field in NHRA funny car history.

Weis backing up Friday's 5.09 in Saturday's first session with a five flat proves it was no fluke. This shot signals that the Bruce's Super Body Shops Corvette is able to step up and be competitive in Sunday's tough field.

The Super 'Vette will need all the horsepower they can muster as they face off against Tony Pedregon in Sunday's first round. This is the second meeting between the Wiseguys and Force's number two car. Tony whacked them good the first time, and they are looking to get even. However, with the odds against them it will be a tough fight.

Weis said "The Wiseguy crew is thrilled to qualify Bruce's Super Body Shops Corvette two years running at the Southern Nationals. Our program is making some headway, and I am loving every minute of it. My hotrod is really working, and stayed hooked up well all the way through the lights. Even though we had a little problem that cost us the last session on Saturday, I feel good about Sunday. She was running strong all the way through, but down at the big end when I took my foot out of it, it kicked the rods out. Which is not good, but is far more preferable to kicking them out before the finish line. It's nothing we can't handle, but our chassis/body/clutch combination is working so well that it shows up any weak link quick."

"We drew Tony's brother Cruz last year at this race, and he slipped by us because we were down on power. With luck, that won't happen tomorrow. We are hoping for a little cloud cover Sunday, and we really are excited about our prospects. If we get a break we aiming to make a good showing Sunday."
