Atlanta Thursday Rain Delay

RAIN HALTS ACTION AT NHRA FRAM NATIONALS

COMMERCE, Ga. - SUMMIT FastNews - After repeated attempts to dry the track, NHRA officials have thrown in the (now throughly soaked) towel and cancelled the remaining on-track activities today at the Fram Nationals.

There were several times when the track was within minutes of being ready of action, when the drizzles would return. After the Pro Stock Truck qualifying session, we were able to run another round of Super Street, Stock, and Super Gas. The first pair of Comp Eliminator machines had just made their way downtrack when the latest rain brought the action to a halt, leaving the staging lanes full of Comp cars and Pro Stock Trucks.

The latest revision of Friday's schedule calls for the action to start at 9am, with round one of Super Stock class eliminations, followed by Super Comp time trials, then Super Gas eliminations round 1, then Comp Eliminator qualifying round 2 (today's round will not be made up).

Federal-Mogul Dragster is scheduled next at 12:30pm, then F-M Funny Car. Pro category qualifying comes at 2pm and 6 pm, with the final round of Comp qualifying and another F-M Dragster and Funny Car session in between. Last up is Super Comp eliminations round one at around 8pm.

All that is providing that we don't have any more interruptions or delays due to the weather, of course. So keep your fingers crossed, and we'll be back tomorrow for whatever the day brings here at Atlanta Dragway.
