Cruz Pedregon -- First Day Qualifying Results
Houston, TX, April 16, 2004 -- Former Funny Car champion Cruz Pedregon qualified the Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the top half of the field after two qualifying sessions for the NHRA Nationals at Houston Raceway Park.
The Wes Cerny tuned Chevrolet ran an elapsed time of 4.956 seconds at 294.50 mph to take the 8th position.
"We're in the top-half of the field so we're happy with that," said Pedregon. "Tomorrow we're going to work towards moving farther up into the field. We've got a good baseline to work from so tomorrow should be another good day."
Two more qualifying sessions are scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Final eliminations are slated for Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
Due to a programming change, Saturday's NHRA qualifying show on ESPN2 has been rescheduled for 1-3 a.m. (ET). Final eliminations will air at 5-7 p.m. (ET) on Sunday as originally scheduled.
