SKULL GEAR Pro Stock Entry Runs 6.731 Seconds

BAYTOWN, Texas, March 31, 2006 -- Dave Connolly and the SKULL GEAR Pro Stock Chevy Cobalt team are looking forward to Saturday qualifying for Sunday's O'Reilly Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park. It's a first for 2006.

Connolly's 6.731-second, 205.29-mph run in Friday's final session boosted him into the provisional No. 7 spot in the 16-car field. It was the team's best showing in the season's first four races.

"We are definitely in better shape now than we were two weeks ago at Gainesville," Connolly said of his rare non-qualifying effort in Florida. "The car got a little loose on our last run but Saturday's first run should be better (in terms of racing conditons).

"We had hot, humid air conditions for the first time this year and we have to learn to run in them with our new race car and engine combination."

Two runs Saturday will set the field for Sunday's race.
