NO HOAX FOR LUCAS ON THIS APRIL FOOL'S DAY

BAYTOWN, Texas (April 1) -- Morgan Lucas understands that April Fool's Day is a big practical joke celebration, but on Sunday at the 20th annual O'Reilly Spring Nationals at the Houston Raceway Park, Lucas was none to happy having to deal with a tough loss that left the Lucas Oil team grimacing as they walked back from the starting line after losing traction to David Grubnic in the opening round of NHRA competition.

Lucas reacted first and was up to the measure of the task when suddenly his 8,000 horsepower dragster spun its tires and thus, allowing Grubnic to reach the finish line first.

Lucas recorded a coasting elapsed time of 10.135 seconds, 93.56 mph to Grubnic's time of 4.620 seconds, 317.42 mph.

The Lucas Oil team will regroup after their Easter break heading to the 'Entertainment Capital of the World' on 'The Strip' at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the eighth annual running of the Summitracing.com Nationals on April 12 -- 15.
