TEAM READIES FOR MEMPHIS MEMPHIS, TN - As the B & B Racing team prepares its’ fuel Funny Car for competition this weekend at the Pennzoil Nationals in Memphis, it’s met with mixed emotions. While driver Bob Weickgenannt and the B & B crew attempt to qualify for the fourth time in a row and it has been a successful season, Memphis marks the end of the NHRA tour for the team.
After qualifying in the last three events where the car and driver have made marked progress, they prepare to make Memphis the next in the string of successes. Weickgenannt will attempt to turn around last years’ Memphis outing where the team failed to qualify in his second event behind the wheel of the B & B car. In 1998, the team has grown and has started to gel as a unit. The car continues to get stronger with with each pass down the track thanks to crew chief Keith Platt. As Memphis is it’s last event for a short while, the team would like to put an exclamation point on the season with a good qualifying effort and success in eliminations. After Memphis, the team will spend the remainder of the year preparing for a full-season assault in 1999.
