BOISE, Idaho - SUMMIT FastNews - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the 29th Annual Auto Parts N Stuff Ignitor listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/s peed, and position in order prior to run: Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 5.690/249.86, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.636/248.55, Was #1 Right Lane: Rick Santos Runs 5.639/248.24, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.815/235.60, Was #2 Santo's misses the top spot by just .003. .975 60-foot time for Melanie, .980 for Santos. That is the quickest pass ever at Boise for Santos, with one more round of qualifying left to go. Left Lane: Gary Ormsby Jr. Runs 8.150/106.03, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.985/222.77, Was #5 Right Lane: Steve Federlin Runs 8.610/149.85, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.830/239.42, Was #3 Federlin might need to see a dentist after that much tire shake.... Something came off the car just past the concrete pad, then Federlin got near the centerline. It looked like Ormsby lifted when he saw Federlin coming over, but Steve never got over the center stripe. Great driving job by Steve, who is already looking like an old pro in his rookie season. Left Lane: Gary Anderson Runs 6.093/227.73, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.420/211.76, Was #7 Right Lane: Duane Sheilds Runs 5.838/238.22, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.881/236.90, Was #4 Anderson will evidently be claiming Division Six points this year, making at least three California drivers who will make the drive north. Shields steps up, but misses the three spot by .008. Left Lane: Mike Mchargue Runs 7.063/127.78, Now #8; Best prior run: 25.660/28.69, Was #8 Right Lane: Mark Hentges Runs 5.691/245.56, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.068/173.67, Was #6 Hentges went straight as a string down the middle of the right lane, the run was smooth and fast, not even a wiggle was visable. Mchargue's time is a career best, and good enough for the 8th spot for now at least in his Afueler. Right Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 5.852/242.26, Now #6; No Prior Run Strasburg bumps McHargue, and leaves Gary Anderson on the bubble. Last round of qualifying is at 4:00 PM.
