Young Gun Connolly Defeats Anderson

Rock Hill, S.C. 0x2022 (August 17, 2004) Greg Anderson's 2004 NHRA Pro Stock rampage was stopped over the weekend at the 23rd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway by 21-year-old young gun, Dave Connolly.

In Connolly's only 29th NHRA Pro Stock start, he picked up his first career win over the reigning POWERade Champion and current Pro Stock points leader.

Anderson was looking for his 13th victory of the season to tie John Force for the most career wins in a single season.

Connolly overpowered Anderson with a 6.799/203.31 mph run to Anderson's 6.818/202.97 mph run at Anderson's home track.

The National Hot Rod Association heads to the land of Elvis and the Memphis Motorsports Park for the 17th annual O'Reilly Mid-South NHRA Nationals this weekend.
