Red-Hot Line Targets "Biggest" Win in Brainerd

Mooresville, N.C., August 12, 2009 -- The numbers speak for themselves. Two wins. Four consecutive final round appearances. Fourteen out of a possible sixteen round wins. Each one describes the unparalleled run Summit Racing Pontiac driver Jason Line has been on for the last four NHRA national events. Keeping things in perspective, however, this string of success has only served to further motivate the 2006 Pro Stock champion entering this weekend's Lucas Oil Nationals in Brainerd, MN, a race he considers paramount on the Full Throttle Drag Racing schedule.

"Throughout the course of the year, this Summit Racing team has numerous races where it is important for us to do well," said Line. "However, if I had to pick one race a year to win for myself, it would always be Brainerd. I want to win there more than anywhere else.

"Brainerd International Raceway is where it all started for me, and it's the one chance I get every year to perform in front of my family, friends and people who helped me get started in this sport. Winning there would be a lot of fun, giving me a nice memory to look back on."

Although he will be looking to make only his sixth career Pro Stock start at Brainerd International Raceway, the v enerable speedplant holds tremendous history for Line, as it is where his drag racing career began. Having made countless runs there over the years, he hopes the combination of his familiarity with the racing surface and a lightning-fast race car will land him in the winner's circle on Sunday.

"Brainerd is a nice track and one of my favorite places to go," stated Line. "It may not be the greatest as far as the starting line and bite is concerned, and the harsh Minnesota winters can be hard on it, but it's still not bad. I've certainly made a lot of runs at Brainerd, probably more than I have any place else, so I'm very comfortable racing there. Besides, it's the same for everyone -- it's just up to us to figure it out better than our competitors.

"We're certainly hoping to stay on this run we've been having, and will do whatever we can to do so. After all, being good doesn't happen overnight. It's a process you need to work at, as I do with my driving. The most important part is that this Summit Racing team is directionally correct, with everyone on the same page, doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. Now we just need to make sure we stay that way, making this the year we win Brainerd."
