Herbert Heads Home Early

BRISTOL, Tenn. (May 18, 2008) The NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals came to an early end for Doug Herbert and the SnaponFranchise.com Top Fuel team.

After solidly qualifying in the No. 7 position, Herbert faced Larry Dixon in the opening round of eliminations. Herbert, with his reputation for excellent reaction times, was once again first off the line, leaving in just .025 of a second to Dixon's .049.

The SnaponFranchise.com dragster passed through the lights in 4.67 seconds at 296.05 mph, just .05 of a second behind Dixon's 4.62 second pass.

"We're trying really hard," said Herbert. "We just seem to keep having problems and it's really unfortunate. We will definitely get it figured out.

"We have a week before we go to Topeka. We will use the time to keep working and make sure we have all the pieces in place to come out ready to win a race."
