Anderson is Eighth Midway Through Bristol Qualifying

The official record will show that during Friday's first day of qualifying for the Thunder Valley NHRA Nationals in Bristol, TN, Summit Racing Pro Stock racer Greg Anderson made two runs in the 6.76-second range, with his best effort of 6.761-seconds at 203.83 mph in the early session slotting him in the eighth starting spot with two attempts remaining on Saturday. Although some would be pleased with this apparently consistent showing, the two-time Bristol winner felt they could still better their performance, and looked to the team's latest hire to assist them with finding the proper thought process.

"We felt pretty good about things after the first session," said Anderson. "Our Summit Pontiac made the third-quickest run of the round, and we thought there was still room for improvement. Unfortunately, the adjustments we made for the improved conditions in the evening session did not produce the results we were looking for which leads me to believe our thought process is a little off.

"That's where I believe (recently added crew chief) Tommy Utt can help us. He'll look at what we've been doing, spot anything we might be doing wrong and correct them. With that in mind, we'll put today behind us, and look forward to doing better tomorrow."
