JEG'S Mail Order Racing Friday Pit Notes
Team JEG'S Shows They Have A Combination That Works
(Coughlin brother's are on opposite sides of the ladder)
Today began the second and final day of qualifying for the Winston NO BULL SHOWDOWN. The weather conditions were not as good as they were yesterday. The JEG'S team seems to have a pretty firm handle on the track conditions and what type of setup that the cars will respond well to. Jeg Coughlin/Pro Stock:
Jeg was in the left lane for the second session. The #2 yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order machine entered the third session in the number one spot and goes into the final session as the man to beat. The car blasted off of the starting line and took off down the middle of the groove. The condition were far from optimal for the Pro Stock cars and their normally aspirated engines. Jeg was the quickest and fastest car in the third session. "We really seem to have a good handle on what the track and car want. The key to our success is that they have been working together," stated Jeg.
The JEG'S team continued to show that they have a firm understanding of Bristol Dragway. In the final session Jeg was the quickest and second fastest of the session. This was the Jeg's second time in his short Pro Stock career that he has taken the number one spot ('98 MacTools Gatornationals & '99 Winston NO BULL SHOWDOWN). "The team and I did what we had to do today. We continued to make competitive runs and further dial the car in for race day. I feel very good going into race day and we have a solid combination that the car is responding very well to," said Coughlin. Jeg will face off against Mark Osborne in the first round.
Troy Coughlin/Pro Stock:
During the third session Troy and his #24 JEG'S Olds Cutlass was in the right lane. Troy continued to show that he and the team have a good handle on what the track wants. Coughlin ran an impressive 7.08 @ 195.85 mph and was the fifth quickest of the session. Troy moved down a spot to the number five position. Troy said, "We made some changes in the fuel delivery system and the car responded well. We decided not to be very aggressive on the setup so we could better measure the changes that the team made."
In the fourth and final session Troy continued to make competitive runs down the track. He was the sixth quickest and third fastest of the session. Troy said, "Our goal was to make four solid qualifying runs and we accomplished that goal. Our new goal will be to gain lane choice for the second round." Troy will go head-to-head against Tom Martino in the first round tomorrow, Coughlin has lane choice.
