Team Jeg's - NHRA Pro Stock

If the past is any indication of the future, there should be plenty of the familiar Jeg's Mail Order yellow and black in the final round of Pro Stock at the Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals.

Team Jeg's has had more success than any other Pro Stock team at Bruton Smith's Bristol Dragway. In 1999 Jeg and Troy Coughlin went head-to-head at the Winston Showdown in the final round. Jeg left with the win and Troy landed a runner-up finish. The following year Troy won the Winston Showdown title in NHRA's most competitive professional class.

Troy Coughlin will return to Bristol Dragway being the last Pro Stock driver to win at the track. He is excited to return to a track where he and Team Jeg's have had significant success.

"To return to Bristol Dragway for the Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals as the defending Champion is an honor. The facility is simply the best in the country and you can tell that Bruton Smith and his staff really did their homework. Mac Tools picked a great race to get involved with. The fans from the area know racing and that always creates a lot of excitement for me coming to a race."

It is hard to overlook the success that Team Jeg's has had at high elevation tracks. The team has also won the last two races and looks to be back to their traditional Championship form.

"Team Jeg's has shown plenty of strength at the high altitude tracks like Bristol Dragway. We have a firm handle on the tuning that it takes to run well in conditions where there is not much room for error. Our team has done extremely well at Bristol Dragway and we are looking forward to continuing our winning ways," explained Troy.

"Coming off of two straight wins is a great feeling going into any race. Capitalizing on the momentum that we are experiencing as a team is key to our success. Our job will be to stay focused and continue to work as a team. We have a wealth of data that will assist us this weekend to put Team Jeg's in the winner's circle for the third straight year at the track," said Jeg.

Reigning Pro Stock Champion Jeg Coughlin has climbed to the No. 2 position in the NHRA Winston Championship. He is a mere 12 points from reclaiming the top spot, which is held by Warren Johnson.

"We have been fortunate to capitalize on the misfortunes of others. We are really getting a firm handle on our new Chevrolet Cavaliers and it shows in our recent performance. The cars are very smooth and very fast. We have found a number of set up combinations that our cars respond favorably to," commented Jeg.

Troy Coughlin is resting in the No. 19 spot in the NHRA Winston Championship after five races. He is 144 points from breaking back into the top ten. Troy knows how important it is to do well at the next two races and his motivation will be fueled by the memory of his win last year at Bristol Dragway.

"I can remember winning the Winston Showdown last year like it happened yesterday. The guys on the team were yelling on the radio so loud that I did not even know what happen. When they told me that I won I went nuts inside the car. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face. I have the trophy in my office and it is the first thing that I look at everyday when I open my door. My goal this weekend will be to add the NHRA Mac Tools Thunder Valley national event trophy to the same shelf."
