Q Racing Driver Advances to Second Round

BRISTOL, Tenn. (May 1, 2005) -- Q Racing Monte Carlo Nitro Funny Car driver Tony Pedregon moved his way to the second round of eliminations during today's O'Reilly Auto Parts Thunder Valley NHRA Nationals presented by Q at Bristol Dragway.

Pedregon smoked the tires early as brother Cruz traveled the Bristol quarter mile in 4.842 seconds at 314.24 mph.

"We were really aggressive on that run," said crew chief Dickie Venables. "We knew we needed to run a 4.83 to win against Cruz, but our run was too much. As it turned out, we were right and needed that pass."

In round one, Pedregon outran Del Worsham with a 4.936-second elapsed time at 308.64 mph. It was a close one as Worsham clicked off a 4.951-second elapsed time at 310.98 mph.

"Our first run was pretty good, especially since we only had one qualifying round worth of data to work with."
