Tony Pedregon -- Qualifying Results

Bristol, Tenn., May 1, 2003 -- Defending Funny Car champion Tony Pedregon qualified his Quaker State Chevrolet Camaro 12th for tomorrow's final eliminations at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn., with an elapsed time of 4.893 seconds at 311.85 mph.

"Well you never like to be in the bottom-half of the field, but so far this season there have been a lot of race winners that have come from the bottom-half," said Pedregon. "Tomorrow is a new day and I'm sure Dickie (Venables) will have our Quaker State car ready to go when we roll up to the starting line for first round."

Pedregon will face Eric Medlen, for the second time this season in the first round of final eliminations. Pedregon has a 1-0 advantage and will look to extend that tomorrow.

"This class is so competitive that it doesn't matter who you get on race day," said Pedregon. "We'll just take it one round at a time and go from there. The main focus will be to go rounds and move up in the in the POWERade points standings."
