WJ Opens in the Third Spot in Bristol

Warren Johnson and the GM Performance Parts Pontiac GXP Racing team got off to a good start in qualifying for the O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, TN, recording two of the quickest elapsed times in the Pro Stock category. After opening with a strong 6.732-second, 206.48 mph pass, WJ stepped up in the evening session, improving to a 6.716-second time with a track record top speed of 206.57 mph to sit third midway through qualifying.

"They weren't picture perfect runs by any means, but the big thing is that we got down the racetrack both times, without shaking tires or any of the other goofy stuff we have be known to do on occasion. Basically, we're continuing to make headway with our GM Performance Parts GXP, and now we need to start fine-tuning it. If we don't get greedy or start shooting ourselves in both feet, we should be in pretty good shape."
