Carrier Boyz Racing unveils 40th anniversary Bristol Dragway Dragster

BRISTOL, Tenn. (April 20, 2005) -- Andy and Mark Carrier, owners of Carrier Boyz Racing, unveiled a special edition 40th anniversary Bristol Dragway dragster today that will be driven by Cory McClenathan during the Fifth annual NHRA O'Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals, the weekend of April 29 -- May 1.

The front wing and nose of the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM Air Hog Dragster will display a 40th anniversary Bristol Dragway logo on a chrome background. The chrome will change to the familiar orange and black colors of the FRAM AirHog Dragster. See attached rendering for full details.

Both what is now Bristol Dragway and Bristol Motor Speedway was founded by Larry Carrier, the father of Andy and Mark. The pair spent their formative years watching and learning as their father went about his work building a motorsport legacy matched by very few.

The brothers learned their lessons well and now own one of the most visible and competitive Top Fuel dragsters on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series -- the FRAM AirHog Dragster.

"We grew up watching the races at Bristol Dragway," said Mark, who is now 34-years-old. "For a long time - until we got older -- the only drag races we were allowed to go to were at Bristol. Dad would take Andy and me over to the track on Sunday and we would watch the Funny Cars and Top Fuel cars. We always had fond memories of the old times, with Raymond Beadle, Richard Tharp and a lot of the guys from that era."

Andy, now 31, added, "It is because of those memories that we are proud that we can carry the 40th anniversary Bristol Dragway decal on our car during the Bristol race. It is a tribute to both the track and to our dad, who gave so much of himself in making this track and Bristol Motor Speedway what they are today."

"I'm the lucky guy who gets to drive the special edition car at Bristol," said McClenathan. "I'm proud to represent Carrier Boyz Racing. There is no finer family in motorsports than Larry, Shirley, Mark and Andy Carrier. I would love to put the icing on the cake by putting the 40th anniversary Bristol Dragway FRAM AirHog Dragster in the winner's circle."
