5 DRIVERS WIN ON GOODYEAR TIRES AT ZMAX DRAGWAY

CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 22, 2010) -- Larry Dixon stretched his lead in the NHRA's Top Fuel championship chase by winning the O'Reilly Auto Parts Nationals at zMax Dragway.

Dixon was one of five drivers to race to victory on Goodyear tires at zMax. The others included Cruz Pedregon (in Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock), Frank Altilio (Super Comp) and Peter Biondo (Super Gas).

After his win, Dixon took a 2,355-2,270 lead over Cory McLenathan in the Countdown to the Championship. Tony Schumacher is third with 2,207.

Pedregon's win in North Carolina helped tighten the situation at the top of the Funny Car standings. John Force leads with 2,245 points. Jack Beckman is nearly even with 2,241 and Matt Hagan is third with 2,203.

Anderson's win drew him to within 27 points of Pro Stock leader Mike Edwards, 2,260-2,233. Greg Stanfield is next with 2,226.

Altilio turned in a remarkable performance in the Super Comp final. His time was 8.902 seconds against an index (quickest time allowed) of 8.900.

Biondo became the fourth NHRA driver to win a national event in five categories.
