CONCORD, N.C., Sept. 12, 2008 -- Justin Humphreys was happy to be back in his RaceRedi Motorsports Pontiac Friday for the first time in more than three months, and the car responded in its first race with power supplied by Warren Johnson.
Humphreys' quickest time of 6.703 seconds was No. 4 after the first run on the new zMax Dragway's concrete track. "We made a change for the second run (6.705 seconds) and it didn't work out," said Humphreys, who left in the seventh spot for Sunday's Carolina Nationals. "We are trying to figure out what we need to do to run better.
"We'll get things worked out. Our crew is working with Warren and his crew. All this always takes a little time."
The final two qualifying runs take place tomorrow and eliminations are schedule for noon Sunday.
