Jeg Sits In The No. 17 Spot After Day One

Hometown favorite Jeg Coughlin, Jr laid down an opening run of 6.925 at 199.23 mph to start the weekend. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier landed in the No. 12 position at the conclusion of the first session.

"We have done a lot of testing with my car this week and we focused of getting the car to leave the starting line going straight for the first 100-feet," explained Coughlin. "The car went straight from A-to-B and now we can get more aggressive with our set up."

In the second session the yellow and black Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier improved, but it wasn't enough. Coughlin posted a run of 6.885 at 200.23 mph. The run fell just short of being among the quick-16 and he landed in the No. 17 spot after the first day of professional qualifying.

"The car responded well down low," said Coughlin. "We will just look over all of the data and put our best foot forward tomorrow (Saturday)."

There are two remaining qualifying sessions scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) before the field is set for race day. The sessions are scheduled for 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM respectively.
