SKOAL RACING'S TOMMY JOHNSON JR. REMAINS CONFIDENT
Owns Longest Streak for Consecutive Races Qualified in Funny Car Series

Atlanta, GA (Apr. 24, 2007) -- For once, Tommy Johnson Jr. is actually looking forward to competing in Atlanta. Despite never enjoying much success there, Funny Car Driver Johnson and the Skoal Racing team are hoping to climb back to the upper echelon of the NHRA standings when they head down South for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals this weekend at the Atlanta Dragway.

Despite getting off to a slower start than anticipated, Skoal Racing is hoping its time has come and Atlanta will be the site of its resurgence. Victory has eluded Skoal Racing due to a number of reasons this season: weather, vehicle problems, and just solid performances by competitors; but Johnson and team remain confident their time is coming.

"Historically speaking, Atlanta has not always been the best place to race for me, but I'm looking forward to it," said Johnson. "The team has been working extremely hard to turn this thing around. I truly believe we're close--it's just a matter of time. Setbacks are not going to affect our confidence--there's a lot of racing left in the season."

Johnson has made it past the first round in Atlanta only once (2005), and after the race in Las Vegas, finds himself 14th in the points standings.

Since John Force did not qualify in Las Vegas, Johnson currently owns the longest streak for consecutive races qualified on the Funny Car Series, officially entering in 66 straight races.
