On the strength of a 6.705-second, 206.20 mph pass recorded on Friday evening, Warren Johnson qualified his GM Performance Parts GTO in the fourteenth position for Sunday's final eliminations of the O'Reilly Fall Nationals in Dallas, TX. Although he was unable to improve upon his first day effort in either of his Saturday attempts, WJ was still somewhat pleased with his performance, noting that information gathered on each run could have potentially laid the foundation for a long and productive race day.

"I guess you could classify our qualifying effort as an education. We opened with a unfamiliar set-up figuring the track would be at its worst on Friday afternoon,, and although the results weren't what we wanted, we took what we could learn from it and moved on. After that, the runs were, for the most part, fairly successful, especially on our last run, when I believed we learned more than we did on any of the others.

"Of course, fourteenth is not the ideal starting spot, and in that respect we're far from satisfied. However, in the big picture any spot above seventeenth will work. Overall, our GM Performance Parts GTO came around pretty decently, and although we missed an opportunity last night to move up a little higher in the qualifying order, I think we're in pretty good shape for Sunday."
