Taylor hoping to stay hot at the 'Big Go'

CLERMONT, Ind. - NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car ace Dennis Taylor and his Plumbing Concepts backed team hope to stay hot for this weekend's 50th Annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at the famed Indianapolis Raceway Park. Taylor and his team lead by veteran tuner Ora Vasquez plan to use their consistency attack to find their way to the winner's circle of the biggest event in all of drag racing.

Taylor, who runs his racing safety equipment company Taylor Motorsports Products in Anaheim, Calif., has used consistency all season to make six final rounds, including two national event wins. Entering the race ranked third in national points, Taylor not only would like to win for points, but for the sheer prestige.

"Indy is what it's all about," Taylor said. "They don't call it the 'Big Go' for nothing. The best of the best are here from all around the country. To do well here really lets you know where you stand in the class. To win here is huge. It would really mark your spot in the history books. With the performance and consistency Ora [Vasquez] and this team has given me this year, we feel excited to lock horns with the best of the best. It's going to be interesting to say the least, and hopefully we can get this Plumbing Concepts Camaro in the thick of things when the dust settles on Monday."

Qualifying will conclude Sunday morning for the alcohol cars, with eliminations starting Sunday evening. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Monday.
