The JEG'S Team Is On A Roll
The last four races have yielded two wins and a runner-up in Pro Stock for the Jeg's Mail Order Racing Team. "The next three races will be very important for our team. The team that makes the least mistakes during the West Coast swing will look back and smile, I believe it will be our team that will be smiling at the 1998 NHRA banquet" said Jeg Coughlin, Sr.
While most of the Pro Stock teams were testing in Denver to get a handle on their set-up for the high altitude the Jeg's Team spent their time focusing on their fuel delivery system. Our fuel system has plagued both cars off and on throughout the season. "We felt that our time was best spent eliminating our fuel system problem and getting more data on Troy's car. We have a much better handle on our fuel system and we make some real noise with our discovery throughout the remainder of the season" commented Jeff Taylor.
The #25 Jeg's Mail Order Cutlass is performing very well. With Jeg, Jr. having two wins and a runner-up under his belt, the 1998 NHRA Pro Stock Championship in within reach. "If we continue to perform the way that we have and capitalize on misfortunes, and mistakes made by other teams we will move to the number one spot. The momentum is with us right now and we are looking forward to making some noise during the next three races." stated Jeg, Jr. Warren Johnson is only seven rounds ahead of Jeg in the number one position, his lead has been decreasing over the last few races.
Troy's #8 Jeg's Mail Order Olds Cutlass is currently in the number sixteen spot. Troy said, "My goal over the next three races is to qualify for each race and go rounds on Sunday. With the points so tight from number eight to 0D sixteen this West Coast swing will reshuffle the standing. I expect to be back in the top ten after Seattle." having the fuel system problems sorted out should help cure the consistency problem which has plagued this car since the beginning of the year." Having this problem surface off and on throughout the season has hurt the performance of the car. Some of the data that has been generated on this car this season is worthless because of these problems.
Jeff Taylor will return to Bandimere Speedway where he doubled in 1995. In 1995, Jeff won both Super Comp and Super Stock. Jeff said, "My dream is to be the first driver in history to win as a driver and a crew chief on the same day. That would put the biggest smile you have ever seen on my face. It would simply be a dream come true!" Jeff will pilot the #4 Jeg's Mail Order Super Stock Grand Am down the quarter mile.
