HAGAN HUNGRY FOR THIRD SEASON WIN AT MOPAR MILE-HIGH NATIONALS

MORRISON, Colo. (July 21, 2010) - Matt Hagan, whose usual DieHard Dodge Charger Funny Car will sport a special MOPAR paint scheme at this weekend's MOPAR Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo., is hungry for his third victory of the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.

The 27-year-old Angus Cattle farmer from Christiansburg, Va., has won two national events this season and is fourth in the class points rankings. He's already clinched a berth in the Countdown to 1 playoffs, so he and the MOPAR Dodge Charger crew this weekend are going for the gold.

"Being able to race the car with the MOPAR body and its fresh new look this weekend is going to be really cool," said Hagan, who qualified No. 3 at last year's Bandimere event and finished in the quarterfinals. "It's a one-off. I really like the style of the familiar MOPAR design. In fact, I think both the DieHard and the MOPAR schemes are pretty cool.

"The Dodges are running great," Hagan said of the fact that all three Dodge Charger R/Ts in the Don Schumacher Racing stable did well in Sonoma last Sunday. Ron Capps won the event, Jack Beckman was runner-up, and Hagan reached the semifinals. "These cars are really starting to come around. Capps has been to two finals, we've been two semifinals, Beckman's been to a semi and a final now, all in the last two races. We just have to get a few lucky breaks and we could be in the winner's circle again.

"You have to be a little bit lucky out there, so when Beckman, who's had a few lucky breaks this season, shoots that horseshoe out I'll be there to catch it. I'm excited. The car's running good, we're qualifying reasonably well, and we're in the Countdown."

As for racing a mile high at Bandimere Speedway, "We'll be coming from sea level to way up there on the mountain," added Hagan. "It will be interesting to see how these crew chefs adapt and whether they will go back to the stuff they had last year or if they've got something new up their sleeves to try. So I'm really excited to get in that MOPAR car and see what happens."
