FULLER RACES TO NO. 12 SPOT FRIDAY AT DENVER
MORRISON, Colo. (July 11, 2008) -- Rod Fuller raced his David Powers-owned Wagner Equipment dragster to the provisional No. 12 qualifying position Friday evening at Bandimere Speedway with a pass of 4.050-seconds.
Racing to just 1,000-feet, rather than the traditional quarter mile distance, for the first time, Fuller clocked the eighth quickest pass of the opening qualifying session. The defending Denver winner drove the Caterpillar car to a pass of 4.154 seconds at 248.39 mph. Friday evening under the lights at the scenic Morrison, Colo. facility, Fuller clocked a performance of 4.050 at 292.90 in the Wagner car.
"We're learning this new 1,000-foot racing," Fuller said. "We were a little slow today, but it's always tricky racing at this high altitude. The night racing is great for the fans, but it won't have any outcome on how we race on Sunday. Tomorrow we'll get to see how we run in the heat and that's important."
Professional nitro qualifying resumes Saturday afternoon at Bandimere Speedway with sessions scheduled for 2 and 5 p.m. (MT).
