Q Racing Nitro Funny Car Prepares for Sunday

MORRISON, Colo. (July 16, 2005) -- Tony Pedregon took his Q Racing Nitro Funny Car to the 12th qualifying position for tomorrow's running of the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway.

Pedregon logged a 4.951-second elapsed time at 289.32 mph during the first session, which held through today's qualifying. The California native talked about his fourth and final run today (5.01 seconds), which he felt was the most complete of the weekend.

"We thought we could have made a better run," said the 2003 POWERade Funny Car World Champion. "But I feel like that will help us for tomorrow. We made it down the track and the information we received was invaluable."

"These cars have advanced so much this past year that a lot of the data we had from last year has been a little outdated," Pedregon continued. "It's been difficult to get the clutch and timing where it should be, so we've been burning some pistons this weekend."

Pedregon will face off against No. 5 qualifier Del Worsham in round one tomorrow.
