Doug Herbert to Appear at Japanese Drag Festival
Cherryville, NC - Doug Herbert and the Snap-on Top Fuel Drag Racing Team is making their first appearance outside North America in the NHRA USA Drag Racing Festival to be held at the Fuji International Speedway on November 12, 1995.
"We are more than excited to run in Japan," said 27-year-old Herbert. "I have raced in Canada a few times, but have never been overseas. Most of the guys on my team are pretty big, over 6 feet tall, so our appearance should definitely attract the Japanese people's attention!"
"Obviously the race track in Fuji is not like the specialized facilities that we run in the states," said the three-time and current IHRA Top Fuel World Champion, "but we have run on some pretty marginal tracks in the past. I think we will run as fast as the track will handle.
The Snap-on Racing Team's trip to Japan has been coordinated through the National Hot Rod Association and the Japanese event promoter, Ox International. Snap-on of Japan is also involved in the Herbert team's appearance and will be interacting with the team and fans on race day at Fuji, with many customers and guests coming to the event.
The Fuji International Speedway hosts many international motorsport events each year including Japanese F3000. It has hosted many FIA world championship sports car events and is the former home of the Japanese Grand Prix Formula One event.
Snap-on Incorporated, based in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is the worldOs premier developer, manufacturer, and distributor of hand and air-powered tools, automotive diagnostic equipment, and tool storage units for professional tool users in automotive, industrial, aerospace, medical and other markets.
