Big O Tires A/Fuel Dragster Victorious in Las Vegas Divisional Race

The Big O Tires A/Fuel Dragster took the trophy in the largest divisional series race of the year on Sunday, November 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada, beating out 27 other dragsters.

Driver Garrett Bateman, who also is a Big O Tires (BOT) store manager in Cameron Park, CA, had a best elapsed time of 5.38 seconds @ 268 miles per hour. That qualifying run put the Big O Dragster in the 4th position going in to Sunday's eliminations. In the semi-final round, Bateman defeated Dwayne Shields. Shields was in third place in points in the nation at the time of the race. Bateman went on to beat John Finke in the final round giving him the win.

The victory secured the BOT dragster a second place finish for 2006 in their division and a move up to twelfth place in the national rankings. The team competed last weekend at the National Championship Finals in Pomona, CA.

The BOT Team is awaiting the final national results to determine if they finished the year in the top ten. "That's pretty good results for our dragster considering that Garrett Bateman became our new driver in July of this year," said Bill Windham, one of the co-owners of the dragster and an owner of several Big O Tires franchises in Northern California.

"We are very happy how the whole team worked hard to finish strong and capture a major victory in our series' largest divisional race in Las Vegas," Windham concluded.
