HOUSTON, Texas - Ruben Celedon, driver of the Sikeston Dragstrip/ Kent Services Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck, arrives at the 14th Annual O'Reilly Nationals in Houston, Texas, with sorrow in his heart and a desire to win one for Mama.
Celedon missed last weeks Gatornationals when his Mother, Inocencia V. Celedons, passed away. In the face of such adversity, many people would choose to stay home, and put racing on the back burner, Celedon however is not like most people.
"We are going to Houston," said Celedon, of Edinburg, Texas, "and we are going to try and win this one for Mama. That is what she would have wanted.
Celedon who failed to qualify at last years event in Houston, feels good about his chances here this weekend.
"We have a good truck and good horsepower. My crew has worked hard to get the truck ready, and my sponsors are 100 percent behind me. With an angel riding on my shoulder, I believe that we can make the show, and maybe all the way to the winner's circle."
Qualifying at the 14th Annual O'Reilly Nationals will take place on Friday March 23 and Saturday March 24. Eliminations begin on Sunday March 25 at 11:00 AM CST.
