Bruce Litton's Homecoming Ends In The First Round At Indy

INDIANAPOLIS - Just because your place of business is located across the street from the racetrack, doesn't always guarantee a victory. That didn't stop the Wix Filters-sponsored Bruce Litton from giving it all he had during this weekend's Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Unfortunately for him, he ran into eventual champion Larry Dixon in the first round of competition.

Being part of a historic field that included Shirley Muldowney and "Big Daddy" Don Garlits as well the superstars of today, was quite an honor for the enclosed trailer dealer.

"To be a part of a program as prestigeous as the U.S. Nationals is an honor," explained Litton. "Indy brings out the best in every Top Fuel team out there, including us. We knew we were at a disadvantage in that we were running under IHRA rules, but we can accept that because it enables us to gather valuable test time."

Litton entered eliminations as the 13th qualifier with a 4.674, 316.97.

On the starting line, Litton nailed Dixon with a .429 light, but in the end, his 4.833, 312.64 didn't have enough gusto to fend off his 4.605.

The team gained some valuable data headed into Epping, N.H., for the IHRA Amalie Oil North American Nationals.
