Cory Mac's Consistent Runs Continue at Indy

FRAM Boost Dragster Runs 4.533 Seconds Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS, September 2, 2006 -- Cory McClenathan and the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM Boost Top Fuel team added two consistent qualifying runs Saturday as they continued preparations for Monday's 52nd Mac Tools U.S. Nationals.

McClenathan had to drive the dragster around the right lane a little bit to get where he was going on the final run but the 4.533-second run was fourth quickest of the third session. He goes into Sunday's final day of qualifying in sixth position with the 4.524-second effort from Friday night.

The car in front of McClenathan oiled the starting line and he had to wait while NHRA's safety safari team cleaned it up prior to his last Saturday run. To make sure traction wasn't a problem, crew chief Wes Cerny "moved the car to the right one full rear wheel width (17 inches) and I was looking down the track wondering if I could get the car back in the groove," said McClenathan. "It was a chore to get it back in the groove but the car got down there really well. The Safety Safari did a great job of getting the track cleaned up.

"We've had three good runs and we'll be getting ready for Monday's eliminations."
