Indianapolis: Doug Herbert preview

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, pre-race: Doug Herbert will be seeking to make his third career final round appearance at the 52nd annual U.S. Nationals on Labor Day weekend at historic O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. The driver of the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster is steadily battling his way back into the POWERade Drag Racing Series Top 10 and a solid showing at the 'Big Go' could trigger a strong finish to the 2006 NHRA season.

"The Snap-on Tools team has endured a pretty turbulent year," said Herbert from his Lincolnton, North Carolina facility. "But we have the right people, the latest equipment and technology and the best tools in the business to get the job done. Since we've switched tuners during the Western Swing we've been steadily building a new data log. We were encouraged by our quarterfinal finish in Brainerd and the car has begun running consistently. The Snap-on team has been working non-stop since Memphis to prepare for Indy and we're really looking to step up our performance and try and take home a Wally."

Herbert made back to back Top Fuel final round appearances at Indy in 1992 and 1993. He moved into a tie for 12th in the POWERade point standings following Memphis and is close to breaking into the Top 10. A victory at the prestigious U.S. Nationals would be a season highlight for the powerful Snap-on Tools team.
