INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - Castrol GTX® Funny Car driver John Force was named to the Car Craft Magazine All-Star Drag Racing Team for an unprecedented 10th straight time Saturday night and Crew Chiefs Austin Coil and Bernie Fedderly again were jointly recognized for their efforts in assuring the continued dominance of the sport's most prolific winner.

Force, the nine-time reigning Winston Champion from Yorba Linda, Calif., was named the All-Star team's Funny Car driver representative while Coil and Fedderly shared the Funny Car Crew Chief position for the eighth straight time. The team was introduced during the annual Car Craft Magazine All-Star Banquet at the Westin Hotel.

The Car Craft All-Star Team is selected by the magazine's readers, editors and a blue ribbon panel of motorsports professionals. Voters are asked to name the top professionals in a variety of categories based on performances from Sept. 1 through July 31.

In accepting the award for the 1999-2000 season, Force paid special tribute to friend and chassis builder Steve Plueger who never has earned an All-Star berth even though he built the cars which carried Force to every one of his 89 career victories including eight already this season.

Castrol SYNTECâ„¢ driver Tony Pedregon, his Crew Chief, John Medlen, and Castrol Consumer North America were among the three finalists in their respective classes. Castrol was a finalist in the pro sponsor category on the basis not only of its support of Force and Pedregon, but also for its sponsorship of the Castrol Nationals and of the O'Reilly Nationals presented by Castrol SYNTEC, both contested at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas.

In addition to his streak of consecutive appearances on the Car Craft All-Star Team, Force has been a member of the last seven Auto Racing All-America Teams selected by the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association.

"All these honors and awards are great," Force said, "but, bottom line, they wouldn't be possible without sponsors like Castrol, without manufacturers like Steve Pleuger and without a great team.

"The driver is like the quarterback because he gets all the credit," Force said, "but drag racing is a team sport, just like football. Everybody has to play his best for the team to win. So I just want to accept this award for all the guys on the team, both mine and Tony's, who work all those extra hours just to make sure we've got hot rods that'll dance."
