INDIANAPOLIS, Ind- Recent Houston O'Reilly Nationals Federal Mogul Dragster driver Jeff Wilson lost to perennial Division 3 powerhouse Shawn Bowen in the finals of the Division 3 opener at the famed Indianapolis Raceway Park last weekend. Severe tireshake caused Wilson's parachute to come out at about half track, as well as breaking the output shaft of the transmission. Bowen went on to run a 5.745/251.04 to put away Wilson's problem plagued 12.00/51.
Wilson qualified No. 1 with a 5.531/257.43, but had problems on raceday with tireshake.
"I was ahead at the 330' mark, but the tireshake broke the output shaft on the transmission, and Bowen got around me for the win," said Wilson.
Wilson's next stop will be this weekend's Division 5 opener at Heartland Park, in Topeka, Kansas, where he will be looking to improve on last weekend's runner up finish.
Wilson said, "We could have won Indy, parts breakage got us. We just have to regroup and try again at the next race."
