Best Appearing Crew -- Lukovich Racing Engines Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck Team -- Driver: John Lukovich, Royal Oak, Mich. Best Engineered Car -- Hughes Performance Roadster -- Driver: Jim Hughes, Phoenix. BIG BUD Shootout At Pomona Award ($4,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel) -- Larry Dixon, San Diego, Miller Lite Top Fuel Dragster, 4.566 seconds, 317.01 mph. BIG BUD Shootout At Indy Award ($4,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Funny Car) -- Tim Wilkerson, Springfield, Ill., JCIT Pontiac Firebird Funny Car, 4.961 seconds, 305.39 mph. NHRA Pro Stock Challenge Award ($3,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock) -- Warren Johnson, Duluth, Ga., Goodwrench Service Plus Pontiac Firebird, 6.977 seconds, 197.67 mph. NHRA Pro Bike Dash Award ($1,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle) -- Matt Hines, Trinidad, Colo., Eagle One Suzuki GSXR, 7.336 seconds, 182.74 mph. Craftsman Crew Chief Of The Race Awards ($1,000 to the Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock crew chiefs of the race) -- Alan Johnson for the Team Winston Top Fuel dragster driven by Gary Scelzi; Jim Dunn for the Parts America Pontiac Firebird Funny Car driven by Randy Anderson; Mike Elliot for the JK Racing Pro Stock Pontiac Firebird driven by Mike Edwards. MBNA World Record Club (Elapsed-time national record-setters can earn up to $50,000 in Top Fuel and Funny Car) -- no records at this event. CASTROL 4-second Funny Car Club (Castrol awards $1,000 to the first sixteen Funny Car competitors breaking the four-second elapsed time barrier.
