** There were two oil violations during the Winston Showdown, NHRA's all-star event. David Grubnic was fined $500 in Top Fuel, while Tony Pedregon was fined $1,000 in Funny Car. Since this event is a non-points race, no points were deducted for Pedregon's violation during eliminations.
