Indianapolis2: Craig Treble eliminations summary

Treble finishes long U.S. Nationals week a bit too early.

Indianapolis, IN -- Post Race Report: Craig Treble has spent as much time during the 2003 NHRA POWERade season fighting the starting line and the new LED Christmas tree lights, as he has working on going fast and winning rounds with the Matco Tools Suzuki. This weekend at the 49th annual U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis Indiana, Treble had the unfortunate fate of losing two battles with the LED's in first round match-ups with his Pro Stock Bike.

"Let me be the first to congratulate Reggie Showers on winning both the K&N Filters Pro Stock Bike Klash, and the U.S. Nationals Pro Stock Bike title, he had a great weekend and I am really happy for him, I just wish I could have gotten in his way a little more than I did." Said Treble

Treble faced Showers in round one of the K&N Pro Bike Klash, recording a regrettable .099 reaction time. Showers then slipped by too take the win, despite a slower elapsed time. "I was holding off and trying not to Red Light, and that simply does not work." Said Craig.

After a one-week postponement of the event due to poor weather, Treble again faced Reggie Showers in round one action, this time for the U.S. Nationals Pro Stock Bike title. "Our Matco Tools Suzuki team has been working on many different things to try and slow this bike down on the starting line, and by Sunday I was much more confident I could just let the clutch fly as soon as I saw yellow, I knew we would be close." Stated Treble

Unfortunately, it was still .001 too early.

"I am really proud of my two All Pro/ Bumper to Bumper Reaction Time Challenge Championships, but this season leaving quick is not an advantage. I think we have that issue about settled with this bike, now we just need to get to our next event in Reading, PA and apply what we learned here."
