Indianpolis: Tony Pedregon preview

Tony Pedregon and the Q Racing Nitro Funny Car recently completed two days of testing at Indianapolis Raceway Park, site of this weekend's 51st annual U.S. Nationals. Pedregon felt the team made progress.

"Testing went well," Pedregon said. "We were really looking to find a set up for the conditions we had. We will see better conditions for race weekend, so I'm pretty confident in where we stand.

"We also focused on a new clutch set up," Pedregon added. "We keep improving on out consistency, and we saw that improvement during our test session as well."

"Las pruebas nos fueron bien", dijo Pedregon. "Todos queriamos encontrar la puesta a punto adecuada para las condiciones que teniamos. Las condiciones mejoraran durante el fin de semana de la carrera, asi que tengo bastante confianza en nuestra preparacion".

* The U.S. Nationals is the Super Bowl of professional drag racing. But for Tony Pedregon and the Q Racing Nitro Funny Car, it's business as usual when it comes to mental preparation.

"As a driver, you need to approach every race in the same way and rely on your experience to get you through," Pedregon noted. "You do know it's the U.S. Nationals though. There's definitely and added level of excitement and coverage because of the Nationals. It's a race that can make a season complete.

"A win here would be a tremendous boost for this team," Pedregon noted. "We're continually trying to gain that consistency and we would like to move up from our 10th spot in the standings. We still have six races to go and a lot to accomplish to close out the season."

"Una victoria aqui seria un tremendo voto de confianza para este equipo", añadio Pedregon. "Estamos intentando mejorar nuestra consitencia continuamente, y nos gustaria mejorar nuestra decima posicion. Todavia nos quedan seis carreras y mucho que conseguir antes de clausurar la temporada".

* So far this year, Pedregon has qualified in the number one position in Pomona, Calif. and Chandler, Ariz. He also broke the elapsed-time record at Pomona Raceway with a 4.681-second pass at 323.35 mph. In Chandler, Ariz., Pedregon broke Firebird International Raceway's elapsed time record at 4.703 seconds.

At Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., Pedregon wrapped up a third No. 1 qualifier, and set a new elapsed-time track record with 4.759 seconds. Pedregon heads to Indianapolis Raceway Park 10th in POWERade Funny Car points with 792.

* Este año, hasta el momento, Pedregon se ha clasificado en la posicion numero uno en Pomona 1, Calif. y Chandler,Ariz. Tambien ha batido el record de tiempo en el Pomona Raceway con 4.681 segundos a 323.35 mph. Y el del Firebird International Raceway en Chandler, Ariz. con un tiempo de 4.703 segundos.

En el Infineon Raceway en Sonoma, Calif., Pedregon consiguio su tercera clasificatoria del año en primer lugar y batio el record del circuito con 4.759 segundos. Pedregon se dirige al Indianapolis Raceway Park en la posicion decima del POWERade Funny Car con 760 puntos.
