TASCA BATTLES IN INDY; MAKES FIRST-ROUND EXIT AGAINST PEDREGON

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 1, 2008) -- It wasn't Bob Tasca III's day at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, as the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang team just couldn't catch a break. With a red light on the tree and the tires smoking right from the start, the team fell to Cruz Pedregon in the first round in Tasca's first professional appearance in the biggest race of the season.

"We had two huge issues today," said Tasca. "One, the car smoked the tires at the hit, of which there was no reason. And [Ron] Capps did the same thing right before us. We had made no change to our car for it to react like that, period. And then second, I red lighted. I can't believe I red lit. I saw the amber and then I didn't do anything different, but obviously on race day you're amped up more than usual, and Cruz is the best leaver out here, so that stuff plays into it. But at the end of the day, it didn't make a difference."

Tasca and his team battled all weekend to earn a spot in today's 16-car field, having to earn a spot in the "Big Go" on Sunday in extremely hot conditions, after fighting the track during Friday's and Saturday's night sessions.

"It was a big race for us to get in and a big race for Ford, Motorcraft, and Quick Lane, because we had their winning JDRF design on the racecar this weekend," said the Rhode Island rookie. "Obviously we didn't get the result that we wanted, but we'll just keep chipping away at it and head to Charlotte and see what they have in store for us there."
