Torco Racing Fuels Chevy Runs 6.659 Seconds Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 2, 2007 -- Dave Connolly took advantage of Sunday's cooler morning qualifying session to register his quickest run of the weekend, 6.659 seconds at 206.42 mph, to claim the No. 3 Pro Stock starting slot for Monday's Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park.

And he drove Evan Knoll's Torco Racing Fuels Chevy Cobalt to a solid 6.729-second time in the hot afternoon sun. He races Jason Line (No. 14, 6.694 at 205.82 mph) in the opening round of the first event in the second round of the Countdown to the Championship.

"We got down the (slower) lane on the last run and I hope we don't have to be in that lane," said Connolly, who has lane choice in the opening round. "We learned some things on the last run that could help us some more. I am looking forward to getting the first round of the Countdown over. It should be exciting."

Connolly comes into the event in second place while Line is fourth in the adjusted point standings.
