Line Improves to Second in Indy, Looks for More on Sunday

The second day of qualifying at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals adopted a more familiar format on Saturday, as racers in the Full Throttle Drag Racing Series made two attempts on the O'Reilly Raceway Park quarter-mile. On paper it would seem that Jason Line and his Summit Racing team had a great day, as they posted one of the quickest-times in each round to earn the second position entering Sunday's final two sessions. However, with his sights set on capturing his first Indianapolis win on Monday, the ultra competitive Line was determined to improve his performance even further.

"We made two decent runs today with our Summit Racing Pontiac, but we still have work to do," said Line. "I know the qualifying order doesn't really show it, but we're still not happy with how any of our cars are running.

"The good news is that all three (including a Summit Pontiac being raced by Ronnie Humphrey) are in the Top Five and we have two more runs tomorrow to make them better. The air should be better tomorrow, so we need to concentrate on doing whatever we can to be better for Monday's final eliminations."
