Line out in opening round at Indy
CLERMONT, Ind. (September 3, 2007) -- Jason Line was turned back by Dave Connolly in the opening round of eliminations of the 53rd running of the most prestigious event on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals.
Connolly was out first but it was a good old fashion drag race. At the O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis finish line, it was Connolly who crossed first in 6.648 seconds, the quickest run of the weekend. Line's KB Racing, Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO followed in 6.691 seconds at 206.86 mph.
"We need to go back to the shop and get both these Summit Racing Pontiacs ready for the next three races," said Line following the first round. "We're not out of this Countdown by any means and some long hours will help with finding more horsepower. We'll be ready when we show up at Memphis."
