Indy ORP: Tim Wilkerson race notes

ONE GOOD RUN, ONE VERY GOOD RUN, ADD UP TO 8th FOR WILK

Tim Wilkerson stepped up on Saturday in Indy, running a 4.200 in the early session to move up to 9th, and then backing that up with a sterling 4.128 under the lights on Saturday night, to grab the 8th spot with one more day of qualifying to go. Both of Sunday's qualifying runs are scheduled for the middle of the day.

"There were 4.08s and 4.09s and 4.10s out there, and we pretty much figured you could run that, but we went out there to make a nice solid lap and just do our best to get in the top half here," Wilkerson said. "This late session was one tough deal, with all sorts of big numbers jumping out at you, so even though we're not up there at the top I guess we have to feel pretty good about being in the top half of a field this stout. Another few thousandths, and we could've easily been up in 6th, but we kept all eight lit and it ran really nice, so I'm good with it.

"It wasn't a gimme out there. You could still mess up and not make it, and a few good cars did just that, so it wasn't like you could throw the kitchen sink at it and everything would hold. No matter how good the conditions, and no matter how good the track is, there's still a tuning window we can run in, and if you overdo it you can mess up, so we feel good about getting down there twice today and running like we did."
