2006 O'REILLY RACEWAY PARK AT INDIANAPOLIS VP FUELS E. T. BRACKET RACING CHAMPIONS HONORED

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov 20, 2006) The Champions of the 2006 VP Fuels E. T. Bracket Racing Season were honored at a champion's dinner held at Primo's banquet hall on Saturday, November 18th.

Champions in the V. P. Fuels E. T. Bracket Racing Series were: Shorty Rader in the Joe Barszcz Racecraft Super Pro; Tim Walters in the Automotion Racecars Pro; Pop Arthurs in the United Construction Super Pro Bike; Patrick Thomas in the Rightway Automotive Sportsman; Austin Carter in the ORP Jr. Dragsters; and Allyn Neff in the MPH Quarter Mile. Rader was also honored as the 2006 E. T. drag racing ORP Track Champion.

The champions received monetary pay out, a champion's jacket, championship rings and an ORP Gold Card which allows them free admission to ORP for the 2007 bracket racing season.

"Our racers are the back bone of our facility and while they all preformed like champions this year," said Mike Myslinski, director of racing operations for ORP. "Only a select few were able to finish the season at the top of their respective classes and are to be commended for their accomplishments."

Also honored during the night was the team that represented ORP and won the NHRA North Central Division Championship in September. This marked the first time since 1992 that the ORP team won the championship.

"The teams in the past always raced well during the course of the event but were not able to win the championship," stated Myslinski. "This year's team was able to overcome challenges from the finest racers in Division Three and our group is the best racers in the North Central Division for 2006."

The annual Otis Isom ORP Sportsmanship award was presented to United Construction Super Pro Bike racer, Pop Arthurs.

Also honored during the event were the series sponsors from the 2006 season. Joe Barszcz Racecraft, United Construction, Automotion Racecars, MPH, Nosnhoj Ent., Rightway Automotive, AED Motorsports, Quinlin Automotive, B. C. Awards, Dryer Motorsports, Staging Lanes and Brickers Pub all were integral in the success of the drag program for the 2006 season.

"Without the support our sponsors give us during the course of the season we wouldn't be able to continue the growth of this series," commented Myslinski. "We are excited for their return for the upcoming season."

The VP Fuels E. T. Bracket Racing Series returns to ORP on March 31st with their first test and tune of the year and the first point's race on April 1st.

One of five drag racing facilities owned and operated by the National Hot Rod Association, O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis was built in 1960 and has presented organized racing events since 1961. From March through October, the facility hosts more than 120 dates of racing on three tracks, a quarter-mile drag strip, a .686-mile paved oval and a 2.5-mile road course. Home to drag racing's biggest event, the NHRA U.S. Nationals over Labor Day weekend, the drag strip runs more than 50 days of point-to-point action, from national events to street legal community programs. The oval track draws racing's biggest events, including annual visits from the NASCAR Busch, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and three annual USAC races. The road course provides a home for several racing sanctions, such as SCCA, while providing an ideal resource for driving schools, corporate outings and open-road tests for professional drivers.
