Line Will Roll Off 11th in Pomona
Qualifying for the season-opening NHRA Kragen O'Reilly Winternationals in Pomona, CA was abbreviated to only two sessions due to inclement weather and cool temperatures, with teams having to quickly find a way to make the most of the challenging conditions. Summit Racing Pro Stock racer Jason Line was the picture of consistency, posting twin 6.59-second times, with his 6.590-second, 210.54 mph pass on Saturday afternoon earning the Minnesota native the eleventh starting position. Although pleased to have secured a spot on Sunday's final eliminations ladder, he acknowledged that in order to duplicate his winning performance at this race in 2009, improvement would be necessary.
"It has certainly been a strange weekend, with two qualifying sessions separated by a day of rain," said Line. "Given those tough conditions, you could say it's an accomplishment just to make the show, but we are certainly not satisfied with that. We have room for improvement, but the good news is that we can definitely make our Summit Racing Pontiac better for tomorrow, so we can give ourselves a chance to win the race. It won't be easy, but this team is certainly capable, so we are going to do everything we can to have a great day tomorrow."
