Jeg Coughlin Jr to carry Olympic Flame

The Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Torch Relay began in Atlanta on December 4, 2001, with Mohammed Ali starting the 13,500-mile trip through 46 states. By the time it arrives in Salt Lake City for the start of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games on February 8, it will have been carried by more than 11,500 Relay participants.

One of the Olympic Torchbearers is NHRA POWERade Pro Stock driver Jeg Coughlin, Jr. Chevrolet asked Americans to nominate individuals who inspire others, who serve their community in an exemplary manner, who embody the Olympic Spirit, and who have overcome adversity. There were a total of 3,505 Olympic Torchbearers chosen through this process.

"I can't begin to describe what an honor it is to be chosen as a Torchbearer and see that The Olympic Spirit continues to burn strong," explained Jeg.

Jeg Coughlin, Jr. will begin carrying the torch on January 3, 2002, at 6:04 AM. His segment of the 13,500-mile journey will take place on Broad Street from Belle to Anson Street.

"I look at this as a once in a lifetime type of experience. I am really excited to represent Chevrolet, The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, all of our associates at Jeg's Mail Order, Central Ohio, my family and everyone who has Olympic Spirit in them," added Jeg.
