Del Worsham, Toyota Solara Funny Car:

* Del Worsham is currently second in the NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car point standings; he trails first-place Ron Capps by 119 points. Worsham has two wins this season; he visited victory circle at St. Louis on May 3 and Bristol on May 17. One race ago at Topeka, Worsham was the No. 13 qualifier; he defeated Mike Neff before losing to Tim Wilkerson in the second round of eliminations.

* Until he lost in the second round of eliminations at Topeka, Worsham had won nine consecutive rounds of eliminations. Worsham now has 24 wins in his Funny Car career; he is seventh on the NHRA's all-time Funny Car wins list trailing sixth place by just two wins.

* Last year at Route 66 Raceway, Worsham did not qualify for eliminations, but he has won three races at the Joliet, Ill. track, 2001, '02 and '04.

Worsham prior to Route 66 Raceway:

"Just about everyone on our team is looking forward to Joliet. It's very fast race track. I've had success there, Aaron (crew chief Aaron Brooks) has had success there, Alan (team owner Alan Johnson) has had success there, so all of us, especially Aaron, are really looking forward to the race this weekend. With all the success we've all had at Joliet, we have high hopes, but it's not just that.

"This weekend could be the last really fast race track we have until the fall so we're all looking forward to getting there to let it all hang out. After this weekend, we go to Englishtown, (N.J) and then to the Western swing, and most of those tracks can be hot, humid or both. We're getting into the summer races so we'll all have to pull it back and just try to get down the race track instead of seeing how fast we can go every time.

"We've won a couple of races now, so we definitely have our confidence, but we still need to work on our warm-weather tune up. It was hot in Topeka; we didn't win, but we had a good first round. We just need to keep getting things dialed in for the tracks we have coming, and we'll be more than competitive."
