Dave Connolly Qualifies 11th at 6.888 Seconds

JOLIET, Ill., Oct. 1, 2005 -- Dave Connolly, like 14 other Pro Stock drivers, registered his quickest elapsed time in Friday night's Ameriquest Mortgage Nationals qualifying session. His 6.888-second time at 206.07 mph left him 11th over and sets up a first-round pairing against V. Gaines in Sunday's opening round at Route 66 Raceway.

With temperatures rising Saturday, only one driver was able to improve his
time Saturday, and that was only one-thousandth of a second.

The condition permitted crew chief Terry Adams to do some experimenting Saturday.

"This was a good opportunity to try different things we've wanted to try," said Adams. "We swapped motors and we found and straightened out a problem with the clutch. We're going to put in the motor we ran Friday back into the car for eliminations. We really don't get a chance to do this kind of thing very often."

"We did get a decent run in Friday night," added Connolly. "We just weren't
able to find any consistency."

Gaines qualified sixth, 6.676 at 206.48 mph.
