Anderson Earns His Tenth Pole in Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am will enter eliminations at the third annual Car Quest Auto Parts Nationals in the Number 1 position on the Pro Stock ladder.

It was in the second session of qualifying where Anderson ran a 6.739 / 205.07 mph to take the Pro Stock pole. This is the 10th time this season Anderson has qualified No. 1.

"It was tricky out there today," said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. "Today this Vegas General Construction concentrated was just getting down the racetrack. We were not shooting for the pole. We just wanted get down the track clean and make sure we qualified. I guess we over shot our goal.

"The conditions in the morning session caught a lot of guys off guard. When we get in a situation, where it is cool and the air was very good. In that kind of a scenario, where there is more air than racetrack, it becomes very easy to give a round away by over powering the racetrack.

"With only two sessions to set the field on, we had to guard against a DNQ. To do that we safety upped and concentrate on making good clean passes. Honestly we were not trying for the pole, but we are not giving it back either.

"This is just a testament how flawless this Vegas General Construction team has this Grand Am running. I have said it before, but this is the best car I have ever had. My guys know this car inside out. They know what it needs, and where to back it down when it counts. They are absolutely awesome.

"I love coming here to Chicago. This is a great place to race. Even though I have had bad luck here in the past, I still like this racetrack. I hope I like it even better by this time tomorrow evening."

Eliminations at the third annual Car Quest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals will begin at 11:00 AM CST on Sunday Sept. 28.
